Voter Registration

Last updated October 15, 2024

This plot shows the weekly change in South Carolina's voter registration totals from late July until mid-October, beginning with the change from July 22 to July 29. The state gained voters every week, though there was substantial variation from week to week, and the net change generally trended upwards toward around 15,000 new voters per week. The glaring exception occurs between September 23 and September 30, when registrations plummeted from just over 14,000 to just under 1,400, before rebounding to 15,500 the following week. This is likely explained by Hurricane Helene, which affected much of western South Carolina and other parts of the Southeastern United States.
